Criminal Defense, when you need someone in your corner.

A misdemeanor charge, a DUI arrest, or a more serious matter — Clifford handles select criminal cases alongside his family-law practice.

Overview

Steady representation when the stakes are personal.

A criminal charge — even a relatively minor one — affects employment, professional licenses, immigration status, security clearances, custody arrangements, and quite a few things people don't realize until later. Good criminal defense work starts with mapping those consequences before deciding what to do next.

Clifford takes on a limited number of criminal matters at any time, alongside his family-law practice. That includes DUI / OUI defense, common misdemeanors, and select felony matters where representation is a good fit. For complex serious felonies — homicide, large-scale federal cases — he'll refer to specialists with the resources those cases require.

What to do if you've been arrested

  1. No requirement to make additional statements. The right to remain silent applies before, during, and after the booking process.
  2. Get the bond and arraignment information from a family member. Time, court, and case number — these matter for the first 24 hours.
  3. Call counsel before the arraignment if at all possible. Even a brief phone consultation before the arraignment can ease some pressure on what to expect at your first court appearance.
  4. Social media. Anything you write online can be subpoenaed and utilized against you.

Talk through your case, in confidence.

If you've been charged or expect to be, an early conversation usually saves significant trouble down the line.
